A lovely blend of traditional craftmanship and modern innovation. Inside, a 6 jewel, rhodium plated quartz Omega Cal. 1532, based on an ETA Cal. 255.111. A reliable and precise movement with around 30,000 hours of power. Towards the very end of the batteries life, the seconds hand will skip 4 seconds at a time to let its owner know it’s time for a change.
The beautifully designed stainless steel case takes inspiration from its vintage heritage, but gives off that neo-vintage feel of durability and precision engineering. Beneath the Sapphire crystal lies a cream dial which gives off a certain warmth. Combine that with the uncluttered dial furniture and we have ourselves a real looker.
A Personal Note:-
An unusual one for me, as I only personally collect mechanical watches. That said, this is slim, comfortable, uncluttered, classy and that creamy dial colour really gives it a lovely warmth. A timeless classic without the worry sometimes associated with hand-wound or automatic movements..
Condition:-
This piece is in really lovely condition and the head remains all original. The case remains sharp and I would suspect this example has never been re-finished. The dial, markers and hands are perfect. The crystal is unmarked.
It is worth noting the the insides of the casebacks on some of these references, including this one, are engraved in a peculiarly amateurish way and are sometimes referred to as ‘Kindergarden’ casebacks. For those unfamiliar with this feature, it can be seen as a worrying sign and hinting at the piece being a fake. However, they are completely factory…….
Movement:-
The Cal. 1532 is keeping perfect time as one would expect, the date complication works faultlessly and the crown is functioning correctly.
I guarantee the authenticity and the working order of this piece at the time of sale, but due to its age and cost, offer no extended warranty. Please don’t expect this watch to be waterproof.
