Watch Servicing, Restoration

Close-up of a wristwatch with a mechanical movement, beige leather strap, and gold case, positioned on a watchmakers cushion.

An important topic which requires some careful consideration.

With regards the pieces I have for sale, their description will explain how they are running, if there is any service history and what period of guarantee I offer. With vintage watches, and depending on their age and movement, one can’t always expect them to keep perfect time. Nor can one expect them to be waterproof. If one of my personal pieces is running within a minute or two per day, and isn’t temperamental or damaged, I will leave it alone. Hence the saying ‘keeping good, vintage time’. Every time a watch is opened and disassembled, there is the potential for something to get damaged.

The same goes for polishing. Unless a case is heavily damaged, or has been refinished in an such a way, so as to make it unsightly, I will leave it as found. After all, the signs of wear are a part of its journeyand are mostly considered acceptable.

However, if you are interested in anything I have for sale and would like it serviced or polished, that can be arranged at an additional cost. If you already own a watch that requires some tlc, then I may also be able to help. In either case, please contact me to discuss further.

I employ the services of several watchmakers, including those who are experienced, Rolex trained & accredited, vintage specialists. The type and level of work required, dictates which watchmaker is used.
