Universal Geneve Polerouter De Luxe 18k, 1956

I’d walked past this in the window at a jewellers multiple times, as it was either not in full view or left in the inside cabinets. Then one day when having a better look, I realised what it was and a deal was done.

This one came with its original buckle and a box, but with a radial drag mark on the inside of the plexiglass which really let it down. I broke the case down to get to the original etched plexi so that I could carefully polish out the mark from the inside and adjust the angle of the minute hand to avoid further rubbing. The bumper movement only requiring a tiny adjustment.

A very tidy case on this one, original crown and lovely hallmarks, combined with a near perfect solid gold dial. One of Genta’s finest designs and an absolute joy to own.
